John Ford
Video Division Manager

John is a graduate of The Visual and Performing Arts school at Syracuse University, which is where he met Matt Hoffman and began collaborating on video projects created by the fledgling, pre-professional HMS Media. Matt and Scott instantly recognized his talent, camaraderie and vision, always hoped someday he might join Team HMS. That finally happened when John and his wife Jenny, a longtime creator of HMS’ animations and motion graphics, moved to Chicago.

Since becoming HMS’ Video Division Manager in 1995, John has supervised productions ranging from single-camera documentaries and commercials to multicam Broadway shows and national and international specials and series. HMS’ corporate clients, who call on John to oversee their webcasts and video content, benefit enormously from John’s artistic background and creative vision.

John is a certified Steadicam operator, a tool he uses extensively in a wide spectrum of projects, and is featured in each of HMS’s acclaimed television specials, including First You Dream, Chicago Voices, A Christmas Carol: The Concert, Under the Streetlamp, Celtic Woman: Emerald and many others. His camera work, including press clips for a multitude of Broadway shows and tours, has been seen on every major broadcast network,

John has been nominated for four Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards for his Steadicam and videography work, and continues to win the praise of clients and critics with his skilled and artistic approach to capturing the arts for television. He and Jenny live in Niles, IL and are the proud parents of their daughter Lily.
